Glory and Majesty

Revelation1_17The glory and majesty of Christ.

The splendour and brilliance of Christ is an awesome wonder. John fell at His feet at the striking vision of Christ. The realization of who Christ really is should make us fall at our feet in complete awe of Him. It is not something to be afraid of, unless you are His enemy. The Bible says we are to come boldly into His presence. The right hand of the Lord was outstretched to John, asking Him not to be afraid. Christ is calling men and women to Him today, to draw close, so that they may see the fullness of His glory. He is the righteousness of those who believe in Him and there is nothing to be afraid of.

The presence of Christ is so great that it knocks people off their feet.

Joshua “fell on His face to the earth and worshiped,” when He beheld Christ (Josh.5:14). Even the sight of Angels knock people to their feet. Daniel “was afraid and fell on his face,” at the sight of Angel Gabriel in Daniel 8:17,18). During the transfiguration, the disciples “fell on their faces and were greatly afraid,” at the voice that came out of the cloud (Matthew 17:5). Saul “fell to the ground,” in Acts 9:4, when a spot light from Heaven suddenly stopped Him in His tracks.

The Spirit of the Lord can choose to manifest Himself in any way He pleases.

I believe we are living in a day and age where we need more of His manifest presence in our lives and in the Church. The reverential fear of the Lord is a good thing. By Grace, we can go boldly into God’s presence and ask for more of Him in our lives and the Church.

The First and the Last

There are many terms from the Old Testament used in Revelation. The words, “First and the Last” are used in Isaiah 44:6.

“Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the First and I am the Last…”

He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end (Rev.1:8). He started this world and He will end it. He existed before time began and will continue to exist forever. He is omnipotent, eternal and immutable. He is to be feared and honoured, with the greatest reverence. He is God Almighty.

HYPER -SUPER CONQUEROR

Romans _8_37HYPER- SUPER CONQUEROR

In Greek, the word “more than conquerors,” is a translation of a single compound word (hupernikon). The “huper” in “hupernikon,” comes from the word “hyper” in English and “nikon”  in “hupernikon,”comes from the word “conqueror,” together meaning: HYPERCONQUERORS.

The Latin version of the New Testament uses the word “supervincimus” meaning: SUPERCONQUERORS.

Paul mentions a number of things in Romans 8:35 that could possibly separate us from the love of Christ, “What shall separate us from the the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? None of these can move the believer in Christ because they are HYPER – SUPER CONQUERORS!

Believers in Jesus Christ do not conqueror people with bloodbaths. The power of the believer comes from Almighty God, who causes them to triumph. Trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger and sword will have  no dominion because the believer is, “More than a conqueror through Him who loved us.”

Rejoice in the Lord always and the power of His might!

THE NEW MAN

5THE NEW MAN

Paul encourages us as believers in Jesus Christ to turn away from the lifestyle of the past and embrace a new one. He says,

“Since you have taken off your old man with its practices and have put on the new man.”

In Colossians 2:11 -12, the Colossians had to renounce, put off, cast away “the old man” (Rom.6:6, Eph.4:22), that is the “old self,” their former world, “with its practices,” listed in Col.3:5, 8, 9a:

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshipping the things of this world.”

But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behaviour, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.”

We are to put on the new man, like putting on new clothes:

“And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.” – Galatians 3:27. We are “to put to death the sinful,” (Col 3:5) and “lay aside” (Col.3:8) all our former vices.

Every believer in Christ has a new nature, being grafted into Christ. The old man is that old nature, birthed straight from the mother’s womb, it is everything that represents the old life, who we are naturally, before we met Christ. Every human is first born in Adam, and those in Christ are born again.

There are two men that will stand before God on the day of reckoning. Those born in Christ and those born in Adam. It is only through our union with Christ that we become the new person. The “new – self” is a progressively developing. Paul speaks about, “being renewed in the knowledge of the image of its Creator” (Col. 3:10). It is a process through which the outer man dies daily, but the inner man is renewed daily (2 Cor.4:16). Wouldn’t you rather have a renewed life than live with the old-self? Every believer in Christ is renewed daily by the Holy Spirit. The believer has a goal and a purpose. The Christian life is progressive.

If you are stuck with the “old-self” and “old ways,” you need to cry out to God to renew your mind. Pray that you will, “put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”

BREAKING BOXES

2 Timothy 1=7Serve valiantly, endure patiently, suffer triumphantly

The Spirit of fear:

God does not want the believer to be a coward, be intimidated or fearful. The fear of man is the greatest hindrance to the gospel. If you are intimidated by the thoughts of others, you will hinder the gifts God has placed inside you. The limitations in the minds of men should not be interpreted as limitation in the mind of God.

The spirit of power

Courage and fortitude are bestowed on the believer by almighty God. It gives the believer the power to pray through difficulties and oppose the spiritual opposition to the preaching of the gospel. Limitations in the minds of others can hinder the gospel work.

The love of God

Jesus Christ died to save sinners. He was a lover of human souls. The love of God should motivate every believer to win souls for Jesus, even in the face of opposition. Ultimately, the conversion of a lost soul belongs to God, and not any man.

Whatever gifts God has placed in you, use for His glory and honour. Do not be intimidated by the boxes in the minds of others. The Holy Spirit moves without limitation, He cannot be contained and neither should the believer in Jesus Christ. Thank-God for what he did on the Cross. The chains of limitation have been broken!
