In the Face of Righteousness by Ruth Dickson

The Spirit of the Lord is the revealer Truth. He changes hearts, changes ideologies, changes mindsets, in opposition to His mindset, enabling them to conform to HIS.

Concepts, ideas and ideologies soaked and dripping in idolatry and worldliness are demolished and become rubble, in the face of God’s righteousness

The Refiners Fire by Ruth Dickson

The Refiners Fire

Israel went through years of suffering and sadness. In their years of captivity and enslavement, it seemed like God had abandoned and forgotten them. These harrowing years were to bring correction to a people whose hearts were sold out to other gods.

The Prophet Isaiah:

God raised up a prophet to speak to Israel in its dry and wilderness places. The prophet Isaiah brought words of chastisement, but he also spoke prophetic words of God’s comfort. Isaiah reminded the children of Israel that God had not forgotten them in the wilderness. The Prophet reminded Israel of God’s promises.

The Valley of Dead Bones:

Many Christians today have discarded the promises of God in a Valley of Dead bones. A valley of dead bones is an illustration of hopelessness and helplessness. It is a stagnant picture of no hope and no expectation of change.

Just like the children of Israel during their dark days, many children of God feel abandoned in a never ending dark valley. Many have been in this place for so long that prayer has been neglected. Just like like the Prophet Isaiah, the Spirit of God is bringing correction and a message of hope and comfort to God’s people today.

God has not Forgotten His Promises:

You must remember, until Christ returns, there will be many trials and tribulations. The Christian is a pilgrim on a journey towards Heaven. Until you get to Heaven there will be mountains and hills, valleys, crooked and rough places to journey through. You must never forget these testings and ordeals are temporary. For many these circumstances will be used as instruments by God to bring discipline and change. These adversities will lead you to repent, turn away from sin and turn to God. There is a highway of Holiness that belongs to God’s people. The unclean can not go there…

God is Able:

God is able to meet you in the Valley. It does not matter what the Valley is called. It may be named disappointment; betrayal; heartbreak; fear; rejection; addiction; singleness; joblessness; illness; moral failure; spiritual barrenness… no matter how dark the Valley or how long you have been there, God is able to meet you there.

God’s Words of Comfort:

God has not abandoned you. In your wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord. Make straight a highway in your desert places. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level and the rough places smooth. ( Isaiah 40:1-4).

The Glory of God:

In the face of Christ, you see the glory of God. Look to Him alone, listen to His voice, He will give you the grace to obey. God will never leave you or forsake you. God’s Word stands forever.

You have a journey to make, but always remember the Comforter, the Holy Spirit is travelling with you, every step of the way. You are not alone.

Prophecy of the Coming Messaiah

Prophecy of the Coming Messiah.

Prophecy has been given for a reason. The prophecy of a coming Messiah goes as far back as the vision of Daniel, even before the time of David:

I was watching in the night visions,

And behold, (A)One like the Son of Man,

Coming with the clouds of heaven!

He came to the Ancient of Days,

And they brought Him near before Him… (Daniel 7:13,14).

Though in the natural Christ would be connected to David, His reign would be spiritual. Christ would not only come to earth, but rule and reign in a Kingdom established forever.

To know God, we must depend on the Spirit of God.

To whom much is given, even much more is expected. Are you among those who do not recognise that the privileges you have are for God’s glory?

Privileges can be wasted, misused and abused when you are not spiritually minded. The carnal Christian is one who is constantly occupied with self.

Faith with no corresponding action, is not living faith, it is dead faith. It is like a tree which does not bear fruit, (described in Matthew 7:19), as a tree only fit to be cut down and thrown into the fire.

The Bible uses figurative speech when it talks about the tree that bears no fruit. In the natural, the person without the evidence of fruit is like this tree…

What does Christ say about this person? (Matthew 7:19).

Let us therefore come boldly before God’s throne of grace: pray for the mind of Christ. Pray that Christ will be a living reality in your life; He is the hope of glory. Christ has given us eternal life freely, He has paid the price, He has given us His all.

Leah Sharibu – Faith in the face of death.

Mrs Rebecca Sharibu collapsed when she heard the news in Dapchi, Borno State Nigeria. One hundred and ten girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram last month, February 2018, and her daughter was among them. Now the all girls have been released, except her daughter, Leah.

Released girls flown to Nigeria’s capital

The anguish in the hearts of Leah’s parents right now must be beyond human words. As the world rejoices at the release of the kidnapped girls, Mr and Mrs Sharibu lament in despair.

Leah is a Christian and she refused to renounce her Christian faith. This is the reason she was not released. Though her parents are in pain, the situation speaks volumes about Leah’s faith.

Only God can give the kind of Faith that will not fail in the face of death. It is divine. Jesus said His followers shall be hated because of Him. Leah Sharibu is suffering on account of her faith and at such a tender age. Though Leah’s parents and Christians globally, cry out to God for her release, we must be proud of Leah. 1 Peter 2:20 says, “But even if you suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED.” Let us remember the God Leah serves is able to deliver her to the uttermost.

Leah Sharibu is suffering for being a Christian (1 Peter 4:16, 1 Peter 5:10, Matthew 10:39). Let the weak say they are strong. God is sovereign over a person’s soul and He is the only one to be feared. Christ has purchased for Leah, eternity and the treasures of Heaven, which no man can ever give her.

Brethren; Believers in Christ all over the world, please continue to pray for Leah Sharibu’s release. We pray because we have hope. Death could not hold Christ captive and neither does it hold those who believe in Him captive. Hallelujah.

Please share this message and encourage others to pray for Leah Sharibu’s release.

You reflect God’s Image and Gloryi

You represent God’s Love.

God so loved this world, so much so that He gave His only begotten Son to it. He did not leave this world in its sinful condition without help;without a way out. He redeemed the situation, in a pure act of His unfailing Love.

Understanding God’s nature, His mind, His eternal and unchangeable attributes will help you understand God’s Love…though you may never fully understand it.

God’s Word shows us His mind and His love towards us. But not only that…it transforms our way of thinking. It unites us with God’s mind, It completely transforms the life of the Believer.

fb-banner14Return to the Lord
The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness thereof. He is able to use every available resource within it to draw us back to Him.

Come let us return to the Lord:
Israel had departed from the ways of the Lord. The chapter preceding Hosea 6, ends with an announcement: He vows to bring His children back to Him. In their distress they would seek Him diligently,

“I will return again to My place
Till they acknowledge their offense.
Then they will seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
Hosea 5:15

Returning to the Lord
The sin and fall of the Israelites was their worship of Idols. The prophet Hosea admonished and called on them to come to the place of repentance. It is never too late to return to the Lord when we have offended Him. He is full of mercy, compassion and ever ready to forgive.

Let us therefore return to the Lord in repentance, true worship and obedience. Return to the Lord with all your heart. “He has torn us that He may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.” – Hosea 6:1

Lifted up from the earth

john12_32scriptThe crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the Cross did not stop people from following and believing in Him. Rather, it did the opposite, it drew people to Him. He was nailed to the Cross and lifted up. This caused all kinds of people, not absolutely everyone, but a people from every nation, tribe and language, to be drawn to Him. He is, and forever will be, the desire of all nations.

To die on a cross was the greatest form of humiliation. They made a spectacle out of Him, but He humbled himself, in obedience. He was even willing to die on a cross (Phil.2:8). He died like a common criminal, He was lifted up on a cross into the air. In His indignity and shame, He is highly exalted and honoured and is the name above every other name (Phil. 2:9).

His unfailing promise:

Today, a great number of people from the nations of the earth are the followers of Jesus Christ. They have been saved, by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Till this day, His fame and name still draws crowds of people. He is the centre of attraction in all the earth. People still hear about Him and believe in Him every day. His promise is established forever (Revelation 11:15).

Christ revealed
The vision of Christ revealed to John was clear and detailed.
John wrote down an accurate record of every intricate detail to make sure that readers of every generation would behold the One who called Himself the “First and the Last” (Rev.1:17). What a glorious privilege to partake in what cannot been seen with natural eyes.

“Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands Onelike the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,[h] “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.” Revelation 1:12 – 17

Looking at the meticulous description of this spectacular vision, you can get caught up in trying to figure out the different parts, rather that stand in awe, amazement and wonder at the description of His presence.

The Book of Daniel has similar descriptions of God. Daniel described the “Ancient of days,” as having “ hair on His head was like pure wool.” John has used a similar statement to illustrate what he saw. He also compared the eyes of Christ to “lamps of fire,” just like Daniel in Daniel 10:6.

God’s Plan of Salvation

Romans8_29God’s plan of Salvation:
The One who created all things, created all humans in the past, present and future. However, not all humans are intimately known by God. He has set apart a chosen people for eternal life who will reign with Him in glory (Gen. 18:19, Jer. 1:5, John 10:14, 2Tim. 2:19). The Hebrew verb “to know” explains it better, it stands for a personal relationship of care and affection. To “foreknow” someone is to have prior knowledge of the person (Jer. 1:5). Those He “foreknew,” He “predestined.” (Romans 8:29). Before you can determine (predestine) where a person goes, you must first of all know them (foreknow).
Foreknowledge is knowing about an event before it happens. Foreknowledge, Predestination, Calling, Justification and Glorification are the five links in the unbreakable chain in God’s plan of Salvation. All those whom God foreknows, He predestines, and all He predestines, He calls and all He calls, He justifies, and all He justifies, He glorifies. By divine election He has chosen a people to be saved by Grace. A people with a glorious end (everlasting life and glory), predetermined by God. To be elected: means you have been chosen by someone and to have a destination, means the end of a journey has already determined.
Conformed to the Image of His Son:
The image of man was perverted by sin, but restored in Christ. The ultimate reason for predestination is the honour and glory of Christ. His eternal purpose for His elect is that they should become more like Jesus, conform to His image and give Him pre-eminence. The process of sanctification is progressive. Though the transformation process of sanctification begins here and now, it will be perfected in glory. It is a work of the Holy Spirit (2 Thess. 2:13).
Christ the firstborn of among many brothers
The term “firstborn” reflects on the priority and the supremacy of Christ. It is greater than the glorification of God’s people. Without Christ there is no glorification! He is the glory and eminence of God’s children (Col.1:15, 18, Heb 1:6; Rev.1:5). The glory is given to Christ to be “the firstborn among many brothers.” He considers the elect part of Him. “Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.” (Heb.2:11).
Salvation is not the work of any man. Our songs, poems and words of thanksgiving reflect and confirm this as we acknowledge His saving grace. The Lord knows those who are His, so we must continue to pray for others, that God work in them, everything necessary, to draw them to Himself.
