Why Pray? Jesus Prayed written by Ruth Dickson

Hands in PrayerWhy Pray? Jesus PRAYED!

The priority of Prayer in the life of a Christian can never be understated.

The greatest example of one who prayed is Jesus Christ. Despite His majesty and authority, He led a prayer-filled life. Jesus did nothing without consulting the Father. In times of distress and before making important decisions, Jesus prayed.

As Jesus grew, His fame grew.  As a young child, He entered a synagogue, preached a sermon and astonished all who heard Him.  As Jesus increased in wisdom He drew crowds.  While many followed Jesus out of curiosity,  others  followed  because they believed He was the Messiah. There came a time when Jesus had to make an important decision.

“Many are Called, but few are Chosen.”

Despite the fact that Jesus had hundreds of people following Him, He still had to make the choice of a specific number. These would be the ones who would take His Commission forward after His departure. It was far from an easy decision.., not one Jesus could make in the flesh. He needed the help of the Spirit. The fact that Jesus was the Son of God did no deter Him from approaching the Father for instruction. It is a privilege to speak to the Father, it is an honour to gain access to the One who knows all things and searches the hearts.

The Father.

What is it that hinders an intimate relationship with the Father?

When a child does something wrong, naturally the parent will notice a change in the child’s demeanour.  There is nothing hidden from God and this is why repentance is importance.  Unconfessed Sin is a great hinderance. You must have faith in  Christ’s sacrifice, that He has paid the penalty for Sin, enabling you  to boldly approach God’s throne of Grace. Remember, He is God Almighty and you approach Him through His Son.

Praying at all times.

Every believer in Christ has this amazing privilege: to come before God’s throne of Grace.

Jesus  often walked away from the crowds and retreated to quiet places to pray to the Father. He prayed  immediately after victory. He  prayed in times of weakness. He prayed to the Father all times. Jesus relationship with the Father was His priority. Whether you feel weak, or strong,  in the place of Prayer, remember you are praying to the One who can help you.  He has given you a garment of praise, instead of a spirit o despair. Praise God for who He is, despite your circumstances or situation. You have a God who wants to meet with you, personally,  in the place of prayer! Amen.

Stand Firm and see the Salvation of the Lord. Written by Ruth Dickson.

Stand Firm and see the Salvation of the Lord.

Just like Judah and Jerusalem at the time of war, God is calling His people to – have faith – in Him.

These are challenging times, where Christians are facing battles on many fronts. The multitude of voices, in these times of uncertainty, is a battle in itself. Whose report will you believe? A house divided against itself will not stand. Stand firm. Trust in the Living God.

In the midst of a thousand voices, there is one voice that speaks the truth. It is the voice of the Living God.

“Have faith in Yahweh your God and you will be secure; have faith in His prophets and you will be successful.” 2 Chronicles 20:20

The battle is not yours, but God’s. Do not be afraid. Trust in the Living God.

EVENING PRAYERS: Thursday 12th December 2019

Evening Prayers:

Tonight, let us pray for the men, women, children and babies who suffer abuse.

Let us pray that God in His mercy and compassion will rescue people from all kinds of abuse…

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

🙏Pray that God will open your eyes to the forms of abuse going on around you. In homes, in schools… where ever this abuse is taking place… may it be uncovered in Jesus name.

🙏Pray for children who are kidnapped, especially from African countries, and taken as slaves across borders into Arab countries, be rescued and restored by the power of God. Pray that God will expose the hidden trade slave routes that still exist.

🙏Pray for the mental health of workers who treat victims, and deal with cases of rape daily.

🙏Pray that God will hear the cries of those who pray daily to be rescued from impossible situations, that God will rescue and hide them from the reach and gaze of the enemy.

🙏Pray those with cases of historical abuse receive peace, healing and justice.

🙏Pray God will send His angels to earth, as He did in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. Pray God will act swiftly.

Heaven is your Home

Abraham lived by Faith.

By the direction of God, Abram set out from his idolatrous homeland (Genesis 12:1-4) to an unknown destination. He was obedient and travelled by faith. He embraced the promises of God by faith.

From Ur to Canaan

Leaving the place of sin and unbelief, Abram, now Abraham, gave up his past to embrace the future. Isaac and Jacob lived with Abraham in tents, as aliens and strangers. They lived in a land promised them, yet they never possessed it as their own, apart from where Sarah was buried. They were heirs to an earthly Promise never possessed in their life time. They all died with their eyes fixed on that Heavenly city which every Believer in Christ should look to.

Heaven is Your Home.

If you belong to Jesus, this world is not your home. Lift up your eyes to higher ground, there is a better place to come. Trust in the Living God, endure with perseverance and be steadfast. Christ within you is the hope of glory. Grace and Peace to you.

To whom much is given, even much more is expected. Are you among those who do not recognise that the privileges you have are for God’s glory?

Privileges can be wasted, misused and abused when you are not spiritually minded. The carnal Christian is one who is constantly occupied with self.

Faith with no corresponding action, is not living faith, it is dead faith. It is like a tree which does not bear fruit, (described in Matthew 7:19), as a tree only fit to be cut down and thrown into the fire.

The Bible uses figurative speech when it talks about the tree that bears no fruit. In the natural, the person without the evidence of fruit is like this tree…

What does Christ say about this person? (Matthew 7:19).

Let us therefore come boldly before God’s throne of grace: pray for the mind of Christ. Pray that Christ will be a living reality in your life; He is the hope of glory. Christ has given us eternal life freely, He has paid the price, He has given us His all.

It was necessary for Christ to give His life.

He was lifted up for the world to see, He paid the price: a Living Sacrifice.

Christ The Mediator Redeemed us.

It was a finished work, freeing sinners, from the power and guilt of sin.

The 2 affects from Christ’s redemptive work are:

1.Justification and forgiveness of sin

2. Deliverance from the enslaving defilement and power of sin.

Christ shed His blood on behalf of many, redeeming them: purchasing them to Himself. You are no longer a slave to your past, but FREE IN CHRIST, a new creation, bought with the precious BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST.

No longer at war…

Pardoned Sin and Reconciliation

The world promises temporary peace and enjoyment, which can often do more harm, than good to the soul.

The Peace of God, promotes your spiritual life and it is given freely to those who believe in Jesus Christ.

There is an inward peace, that can only come from Almighty God. It comes from knowing your sins have been pardoned and that you are no longer at war with God, but reconciled to Him.

Rejoice today, and again I say, Rejoice.

Not Without Hope

Not without Hope

You are not without Hope if you have made Christ your Saviour. Think about it, who will save you, who can you talk to? Who will uphold you in these trying times?

It is Jesus Christ.

 Be patient in your difficulties.

You will never sink under pressure or trials when your hope is placed in Christ. The circumstances or trials you face will not be magnified in your eyes because you know that you will come out of it with victory.

Keep Marching Soldier

Persevere and keep going strong in the place of Prayer, in fact, pray without ceasing, be diligent opinion it. There is such an assurance in knowing Christ is firmly by your side. The good Lord is on your side.

An avoidable TRADEGY

Seventy- two people lost their lives, met their untimely deaths, in a 24 storey building tower block fire, ( Grenfell Tower, UK), today the 14th of June, exactly one year ago.

It all started when a faulty fridge-freezer on the fourth floor caught fire. The fire spread rapidly, consuming the whole building, destroying many lives and destinies.

In reality, the real fire started when cheap pre-fabricated material was used to renovate an already decrepit building. Cladding an old building with very fancy, but dangerous building materials, to catch the eye, was given more importance than the human lives that lived within the building.

Human-beings, made by Almighty God; made in God’s image: Men, Women, Children, Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, Daughters, Sons, Grand-Parents, Cousins, Babies all perished senselessly, on the account of the keeping up the shiny external appearance of a dilapidated building, already in disrepair.

How much energy do you give to keeping up external appearances to the detriment of your life, even your soul? Would you rather spend millions of pounds, spend hours and hours of time and energy on what has no benefit to your soul? Are you wasting time building an edifice that will eventually fall? This can be applied to every area of life. It’s something to think about…think about it.

Right now, let us say a word of prayer for the families of those who were killed in the Grenfell Tower fire: May God Comfort them, may they have all the support and care they need at this time, may God wipe the tears of those who mourn and heal their pain, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Injustice Unchecked

Many years ago, I heard the story of rich man who got away with killing each of the several wives he married.

He reversed his car over his first wife, threw the second wife out of a window, strangled the third wife and drowned the fourth wife. None of the women received justice for the Rich man’s actions.

Despite the Rich man’s history of murder, he carried on with marrying and killing women with impunity. No one questioned or queried his actions, because of his wealthy status and high standing in society. It was over-looked. In some cases, the women who objected to being married to this fellow, were forced into it by friends and society, because of the rich man’s riches.

Greed is defined as a selfish and intense desire for something. When greed is allowed to overtake principles, it rips lives apart. Societies, homes, communities and even nations are destroyed, when eyes are closed and voices kept silent and mute against injustice.

Injustice must be challenged, regardless of the status of the perpetrator. Those who continue to carry out actions of injustice must be STOPPED, and not encouraged. It is the covetous heart; the gutted soul, that will keep silent in the face of injustice.
