Written to a people who were being persecuted because of their Faith: The Book of Hebrews brings words of encouragement to Believers globally, who need as much encouragement at this time as they did then.

The Hebrews were in danger of turning away from the Christian Faith, because of the persecution they were facing from the authorities. Those within their own communities who still practiced ceremonies under the ceremonial Law of Moses, were also standing against their faith in Christ. They were tempted to return to the Ceremonial Law, with its ceremonies and religious sacraments.

New Testament believers are to come boldly before God’s throne of Grace to obtain mercy and find Grace in time of need. They no longer need an earthly priest to be the intermediary between them and God. The Hebrews sacrifices, ceremonies, rites, customs and religious observances under the ceremonial Law of Moses had been done away with because of the better covenant in Christ.

Those in Christ have a New Covenant. A Great High Priest who sits at the right hand of Almighty God, where He intercedes on their behalf.

If you believe in Christ, you need to come into that place of rest, knowing that Christ has paid the ultimate price for your salvation. There is nothing you can add to it…no works of self-righteousness or good works can make you right before God.

God rested from the work of creation on the seventh day. Christ now rests in Heaven, His work on earth, the work of Redemption is complete. Christ is your High Priest, your intermediary, who intercedes on your behalf daily, before Almighty God. Those in Christ can now rest knowing that they can come boldly before God’s throne of Grace, despite their daily short comings and failures, knowing their sins have been forgiven. Because of their Faith in God, they can walk in obedience. They will persevere during the greatest storms and endure until the very end.

“Without Faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

God has given you the power, if you area Believer in Christ, to war against sin and resist temptation, so that it flees from you. He has done everything possible to enable you live a Holy consecrated life.
