Lord, I believe.
Where ever Jesus went He sparked controversy. The healing of a man blind from birth caused much confusion and debate among the Pharisees. The religious leaders did not want to believe the report of the blind man and desired to scuttle his testimony and deny Jesus the honour of this miracle.

How were your eyes opened? John 9:10

The healing of the blind man astonished everyone. He did not deny the fact that a supernatural occurrence had taken place. He seized the opportunity to testify, to the power of Jesus Christ. Every Believer in Jesus Christ should seize the opportunities presented on a daily basis to declare and proclaim Christ.

Declaring Christ
The blind man did not deny Christ, but stood His ground in the face of the outrage and opposition of the Pharisees. They called Jesus a sinner, but the blind man responded this way: He said, “one thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” John 9:25

How many times do we shy away from declaring what Christ has done in the face of hostile unbelief? You must realise that the spiritual eyes of the blind man were yet to be opened, yet he believed . He believed Jesus to be a man of God from his miracle of eyesight. He testified that once he was blind and that now he could see. He honored Jesus and no one would take that testimony from his lips.

John 20:29 says,
“Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Do you believe in the son of God? (John 9:35)
The blind man’s testimony resulted in him being accused of being a disciple of Jesus. He was driven out of the temple. The Pharisees considered themselves the superior disciples of Moses and they cast out the formerly blind beggar from the temple.

When Jesus heard that the Pharisees banished him from the temple, Jesus went after him, just like a Shepherd seeks after lost sheep. Christ cares for the outcast, and the lost, He runs after the rejected and draws them close.

Jesus revealed himself to the once blind man as the Son of God to which he believed(v38). Now the formerly blind man had both physical and spiritual eyesight. What a testimony of the work of faith! He was fully convinced. The Bible says and he worshipped the Lord. Christ gives grace to the humble, but He fully resists the proud.

Until the light of Jesus showed up, the blind man sat In blindness and darkness. Christ came as the light of the world to save a people shrouded in darkness. God commands light to shine out of darkness. It is God’s light that shines into our hearts to give understanding (2 Corinthians 4:6). He is revealed to the hearts of men by His Spirit.

The blind receiving sight is a beautiful spiritual picture. Many have physical eyes, but cannot see. May those who desire spiritual eyesight see the glory of the Lord! Amen.
