jame-117Since God is the author of all things good, it goes without saying that there must be an author of all things evil. Every “good gift” and “perfect gift” comes from above. These (good and perfect gifts) are spiritual gifts, graces and favours specifically for God’s children.

“Every good gift”

There are common gifts, given to all mankind, without this, the earth would function (Lam. 3:22-23). However, there are special gifts, set aside for God’s elect. These are good gifts; spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3). These gifts are “good” and “perfect,” as opposed to the gifts of satan (2Cor. 4:4, Eph. 2:2).

“Every perfect gift”

Some writers distinguish between “good gifts” and “perfect gifts” with the thought that “good gifts,” speak of earthly blessings, while “perfect gifts,” imply heavenly or spiritual blessings. Indeed, they are both mercies which come from Heaven. The word “perfect” speaks of perfection. Christ gradually works in the lives of believers, it’s a process. He is progressively perfecting His Church. From the first beginning of grace in regeneration, to the completion of it in glory.

“Is from above” (Comes from Heaven)

The blessings bestowed on believers come from above. These blessings are manufactured in Heaven, intricately put together for the sons and daughters of God. Eph.1: 3 says, we are blessed with spiritual blessings in Heavenly places. These “good” and “perfect” gifts are just as they are described (good and perfect), to make everything in the lives of believers (good and perfect). God gives nothing but the very best to His children.

“Father of Lights” (The Creator, the Author and Finisher)

Light speaks of the core substance and glory of God. He is the giver of light and there is no darkness in Him (1John 1:5). This light is pure, it’s undiluted. 1Tim.6:16. describes it as “an unapproachable light,” (light so brilliant that no one can approach.) His glory is unimaginable and unthinkable, such as the mind can not fathom. He is the Light of light. Spiritual understanding, wisdom, correct reason, is light that comes from LIGHT.

The words, “Father of Light” points to the Sun. These are words borrowed from Astronomy. There are children God uses to beam sunlight to a world full of darkness. Luke 16: 8 talks about the “children of light,” just as 2 Cor.11:14 talks about the one who disguises as an“angel of light.” As God uses the children of light, satan uses children of darkness. These are people who avail themselves to put out the light of the children of God.

The light, given by God, cannot be extinguished by any man.

Jesus Christ is the “LIGHT OF THE WORLD” (John 1:9) and He gives this light to His children so that they can shine brightly without limitation, measure or fear. They are candles, ignited by ALMIGHTY GOD. Not even the strongest gale wind of force can blow them out. Just like the stars light up the sky, and the sun gives light to the four corners of this earth: North, South, East, West. Its beam is unstoppable, it reaches every – where. The children of light are to light up the world with the brilliance and luminosity of God’s glory.
