2_corinthians6_18To be separate from the world

To link arms, to be friends with this world, is to be an enemy of God. Paul is saying, (do not choose the the world as your bosom friend), when he references Old Testament scriptures in 2 Cor. 6:18.

“Depart! Depart! Go out from there,
Touch no unclean thing;
Go out from the midst of her,
Be clean,
You who bear the vessels of the Lord.” – Isaiah 52:11

At the same time,” says the Lord,

I will be the God of all the families of Israel,

and they shall be My people.” – Jer.31:1

“They shall come with weeping,
And with supplications I will lead them.
I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters,
In a straight way in which they shall not stumble;
For I am a Father to Israel,
And Ephraim is My firstborn.” Jer.31:9

Friendship with the world is like taking a cocktail drink. There are substances within it that are dangerous to your mind. A person who is constantly intoxicated, will have an intoxicated lifestyle. This is just like the person who embraces the world. You are called to separate yourself from the world, if you are a child of God. You are the light of the world, if you belong to Jesus. Light and darkness cannot mix together.

There are benefits of being a son or daughter of the Living God. You are called to a life of righteousness. The child of a King will not associate with everyone. As a child of God, you are chosen, not because you separate yourself from worldly associates and associations, you are chosen of His own free will, by His divine election. He is your Father by Adoption and He makes you His own taking care of all your needs. He does so much more than an earthly father could ever do. His love is everlasting.

“For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Deut.7:6-8

Will it last?

romans8_38You know God loves you, but will His love continue forever?
Paul held back no words: he was fully persuaded when he said, nothing could separate Him from God’s love.
Is this your persuasion?
When Paul says, “Nothing shall separate us,” he speaks on behalf of everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. The love of God is a privilege guaranteed to God’s children. You have no need to fear. Paul was convinced about God’s love and support of you. “I know whom I have believed” 2 Tim. 1:12
The triumph of your faith is your belief in the promises of God. The degeneration and dissolution of this earthly body into dust cannot separate believers from the love of God: “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. “ (Psalm 116:15). They have a heavenly home that is not made with human hands.
Life is a journey and certain turns, on the pathway of life, meet with trouble, trials and temptations. Even prosperity and wealth can be terrible snares with a deadly sting. They hide in the shadows of life’s journey, waiting to bite and ensnare victims. Yet, even these strivings and allurements cannot separate the children of God, from the love of God.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?”(Rom.8:31). Angels, powers and principalities shall not prevail. Though the weapon might be formed, it shall not prosper against the child of God (Isaiah 54:17).
Nothing at this moment in time, or in the near future, will disunite believers in Christ from God. The sovereignty of God transcends time. He is the beginning and the end (Rev.22: 13).
“Nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).
The grace of God doesn’t rely on the works of men. His love doesn’t waiver, it is constant. All of creation is under the dominion and power of the Creator, so you can rejoice today. Absolutely nothing, whether present or in the future, will be able to separate you from the love of God, that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Yes, You!

romans12_4scriptureYou are the Church

A healthy Church has many members with each person playing a unique role. 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 uses the metaphor of the body. In the body of Christ, each member functions differently, according to the grace given to it. No one can boast about the gifts they have because they are all graciously given by God. The glory of God is displayed in these different gifts, abilities and talents.

Everyone has a part to play, only a part, and not the whole thing. This is where the concept of the different body parts comes in (1Cor.12:12-31). Look at the human body, it is one unit made up of different body parts. The Head of the body is more visible than the Heart. The Head is visible to all, it is prominent. However, this does not make the Heart less valuable because it is invisible. Without the Heart, the Head cannot function. In-fact, the body cannot live without the Heart… Selah.

Each part of the body works in perfect harmony with the other. One part cannot not seek to pull down or diminish the work of another.

It should be greatly appreciated that not all members have the same function (Rom12:4). Imagine the confusion and competition it would create if everyone tried to function in the same role. It would create a bottle-neck situation.

Today, think about the unity and diversity of the body of Christ and celebrate it. Pray for your role, as well as the role of others, that it may be done in perfect harmony, to the glory of God. The Holy Spirit has not given you a gift to hide it under a bushel. Pray for the room and freedom to use your gift today.

fb-banner14Return to the Lord
The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness thereof. He is able to use every available resource within it to draw us back to Him.

Come let us return to the Lord:
Israel had departed from the ways of the Lord. The chapter preceding Hosea 6, ends with an announcement: He vows to bring His children back to Him. In their distress they would seek Him diligently,

“I will return again to My place
Till they acknowledge their offense.
Then they will seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
Hosea 5:15

Returning to the Lord
The sin and fall of the Israelites was their worship of Idols. The prophet Hosea admonished and called on them to come to the place of repentance. It is never too late to return to the Lord when we have offended Him. He is full of mercy, compassion and ever ready to forgive.

Let us therefore return to the Lord in repentance, true worship and obedience. Return to the Lord with all your heart. “He has torn us that He may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.” – Hosea 6:1

You’re GIFTED!!!

romans12_6scriptThe grace of your gift.

Isn’t it glorious to see someone used by God. These gifts to the Body of Christ, are given out to people by grace, in proportion to their faith.

Prophesy, giving practical service, teaching, exhorting, contributing to the needs of people, exercising leadership and showing mercy are the different gifts, each unique in their own special way. These gifts, sometimes called, “Charismata,” are mentioned in 1 Cor. 12:8-10 (nine functions are listed here), 1 Cor.12:28,29 (eight are listed here), Eph.4:11 (four are listed here, though some see it as five), please read. The Spirit of God works in all these gifts. He graciously distributes them, to each person individually, as He wills.” (1 Cor.12:11).

The Church benefits and grows when these gifts are allowed to function freely. They are like beautiful ornaments to the church. The growth of a Church is suppressed when these gifts are suppressed.

These gifts are not exclusive to the most visual parts of the body.. Everyone has something… Sometimes, a person is given more that one gift, it is all for the glory of God. It is for the benefit of the church and the blessing of it can also extend outside the Church.

Everyone’s gift is useful. No one can boast about their gift because all gifts are given by the grace of God. Each gift is exquisite and different, given by God who desires to give all things willingly (Romans 8:32). A person can misuse their gift. This can be compared to a person who blows and throws something of great value down the drain.

Are you faithful with your gift?

Child of God, your gift or talent is to be used for His glory. The body of Christ needs what your Father in Heaven has divinely bestowed upon you. You may have the gift of Prophecy, be a skilled Musician or have the ability to sing, you may be a gifted Writer, be great at organising, powerful at teaching, eloquent at speaking, great at exhorting or be a strong leader.

Whatever God has given you, use it freely,  for His glory. Amen.

weekly-post-24Opposition to the gospel

There is a spirit that opposes the word of God and those who share it. It seeks to hinder gospel publications and loathes the ministers who are successful in doing what Jesus asked them to do: The Great Commission.

Saints every-where, both near and far, in every nation are to “pray without ceasing,” ( 1Thess.5:17). Pray for those who minister the gospel. Pray that every opposition be exposed and hindrance overthrown. Pray that hearts and minds, that are closed to the gospel, be opened to receive it.

But the Lord is faithful

The Lord is good and He never fails on His promises. Even with those who lack faith, He remains faithful (2Tim.2:13). He watches over His word and carries out His plans (Jer.1:12). Jesus said, “I will be with you always, to the very end,” (Matt. 28:20) and that is a promise.

Strength and protection from the evil one

The believer, who looks to Christ, will stand his or her ground in the face of wickedness. It is by His grace the children of God are not moved. He places them in a strong tower, where the enemy cannot reach them. He gives them the ability to move forward.

Pray for the Church this hour, it needs encouragement and strength. It needs consolation, hope and grace to be established in every good word and work. (2Thess.2:16-17).

Pray for me, the writer of this post, that the gospel work will continue.

May God protect us all from the evil one.

week41His promises are absolute

“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires;
God will satisfy them fully!” – Matthew 5:6

You can only live by grace if you believe in Jesus Christ. You can pray for the grace to do what He requires. You can pray with confidence when you know you are praying according to His will, plan and purpose.

To be led by HIS SPIRIT:

He desires to give you what He has promised. He is a good Father, He does not tell lies. He will lead you to pray “according to His will,” by His Spirit. Hold steadfast to the promises of God.

– Luke 11:13

He desires to give you what He has promised. He is a good Father, He does not tell lies. He will lead you to pray “according to His will,” by His Spirit. Hold steadfast to the promises of God.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” – Luke 11:13

Yep, the world’ll know

Looking at Psalm 31:19, we can ask the question, “who are those who FEAR and Trust the Lord?”

John 1:12 says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (NKJV)

Romans 8:14 says, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. (NKJV)

These are the people who fear and trust the Lord. The faith of the believer in Jesus Christ truly demonstrates God’s faithfulness. It is the faithfulness of God which causes them to believe… Selah

How great is God’s goodness

The goodness of God is “laid up”, hidden; preserved; set aside, for those who love the Lord. His goodness is bestowed, without measure, upon those who believe. 1Peter 1:4 says, they have an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance laid up for them in Heaven. A son or daughter of God has Kingdom Privileges. The fullness of the earth belongs to God and they partake of His goodness, even now, while they live on earth.

It’ll be evident to all:

The enemies of God will look on and see the display of God’s glory, upon the sons of God. They will not be able to stop or block it. Psalm 10:15 says, He breaks the arm of the wicked man and brings the evil doer to account for his wickedness. Psalm 61:3 says, He is a refuge and a fortress a place of safety where the enemy cannot reach.

It will be evident to the whole world right now, and in the world to come, who the sons of God really are… (Romans 8:19).

Isn’t it heart-warming to read encouraging words of scripture on Social Media in the midst of the horrendous dark content you come across. Just one encouraging post can change the course of your day. The eyes are the window to the soul and what filters through can either produce light, or darkness.

The mind has such retentive memory, what it sees, what it reads, what it perceives can either have a pleasant or unpleasant effect. It either builds youup, or tears you down. Can you imagine what Social Media would be without the brightness of God’s Word. It would be a completely dark place. Praise God for those who take their time to share it.

The Word of God brings light in darkness. It carries great news. It is a conduit of joy. Each time you see a scripture post on Social Media, take time to meditate on it. Share it. It is the sweetest fruit in the midst of the rottenness of Social Media. Psalm 104:34 tells us the meditation of God’s Word is pleasing to God.

Rejoice and be glad today, turn your eyes away from darkness. Open your Bible and meditate on God’s Word: the well-spring and source of Life. Open your Bible every day, it is a treasure – trove of Joy. Meditate on what gives life to the soul.
