A New Life (Part 4)

Poster 1-6 104The New Birth is brought about in the soul by the Spirit of God. Through Christ’s electing love and redeeming grace, a person in Christ (not a religion or Church) becomes new.

“It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.” Galatians 6:15 This new creation is a work of God: a new nature, a new man. (Eph. 2:810, Col.3:10).

Old things have passed away:
The old nature, the old way of life, legalism: which loves and serves the flesh, (John 3:5, 6; 1:12, 13) passes away. Self – righteousness, worldliness and worldly friends, the old desire for worldly recognition, covetousness, human philosophies, thinking and concepts are “old things passed away.”

The new: a new life
The new man thinks and acts from new principles, new rules, with new goals and objectives. The new man has a new relationship with God. The new man is born again with a new life and a new song. He or she is born into a new love, a new relationship: new devotion and praise to God. The blood of Jesus makes all things new. It has redeeming power.

The new life does not need anything from the old life. His grace is sufficient. The blood of Jesus makes the way for a new life, a new heavens and new earth.

Indeed, He makes all things new – Revelation 21:5

A New Life(Part 3)

Easter Portrait3The New Life – part 3

The new life of the believer and the resurrection go hand in hand. We live a life of righteousness because of Christ’s righteousness.

“I am the living one. I died, but look–I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. “ Rev 1:18

Jesus made himself a lawful captive, as He took our place and carried our sin. We no longer live under the Law, but under the banner of Grace. Sin no longer has control over us. Those who rise with Him live forever. Jesus Christ rose to an immortal life so we can live immortally with Him forever.

Easter Portrait4

The person in right standing with God has not done so by their own abilities or good deeds. Their righteousness is found in Christ.

Through his faithfulness, God displayed Jesus as the place of sacrifice where mercy is found by means of his blood. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness in passing over sins that happened before…” Romans 3:25

Paul’s hearts desire was to be like Christ: to know Him more, to know the power of His resurrection and identify with His sufferings. Sanctification is being made more like Jesus and this is what Paul longed for. Justification makes us right with God. Paul desired to know the power of Christ’s death, the power in the blood that was shed. We should strongly desire this knowledge, just like Paul did.

I pray today, your desire will be like Paul’s: to know the power of His resurrection; to conform to His image and die daily to self, selfish desires and sin.

The Sword of the Spirit-Part 1

ephesians-6-1711The Sword of the Spirit – Part 1

A soldier going to war without a sword is like a farmer going to the field without farming equipment. The Sword of the Spirit is essential for the believer to win in battle. Here, Paul is not talking about a physical sword. He is talking about the Word of God. It is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God that defeats and demolishes the wicked one.

The battle belongs to the Lord. We do not fight in our own strength, neither do we fight with physical weapons. It is God who gives us the victory. He is the mighty hand that conquers and defeats the enemy. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony (Rev.12:11).
