13Christians and people from all religious backgrounds celebrate Christmas. It is a global event the whole world recognises. With only two days to Christmas, most people have already bought gifts for their loved ones. Many people are already on holiday, it is the season to spend time with friends and family.

Lots of celebrations take place over the month of December. The whole world makes merry and  celebrates.  Most people just celebrate because the world celebrates… It is just a yearly celebration for them.   Some countries have officially replaced the term “Christmas” with other names, knowing everyone celebrates it, but not wanting to associate the celebration with Christ.

The greatest gift anyone can receive this Christmas is the gift of Jesus Christ. To know and understand that Jesus Christ humbled himself to reconcile man to Himself:  is to be received with joy and gladness…  It is to be celebrated.   Jesus dwelt among us as “Immanuel.”  “He gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.” (Philippians 2:7)  He came to us and was “God with us.”

Receiving Jesus Christ, is the greatest gift of all. It is a free gift.  A gift that cannot be purchased with silver and gold. He is the Joy of the earth. There is no language that can praise Jesus enough, there are no words that can completely describe Him. He is Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).   He is so much more than we know.  He existed before time began. The Messiah, The Mediator, The Saviour. He has paid the price for sin. He has given the gift of eternal life.

Thanks be to God for this indescribable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15). Merry Christmas!
