Micah brought a special message to a people desperately in need of Mercy. He spoke about the birth of a new King and Kingdom. This Messianic King would come out of Bethlehem. A unique King: a human King; a divine King; an eternal King; in existence before time began.
Bethlehem: The birthplace of the Messiah (Micah 5:2).
Under the power of the Holy Spirit Micah gave prophecy of the coming King. The Jewish leaders knew the place of Messiah’s birth because of Micah’s prophecy. The chief priests and scribes where able to point Herod in the direction of Bethlehem (Micah 5:5, Matthew 2:4-6). Though He knew where Jesus would be born, He was unable to stop Micah’s prophecy from coming to pass.
The world is in desperate need of mercy today, just like in the time of Micah. Corruption, social injustice, deception and wickedness prevail. People have turned away from righteousness, just like in Micah’s day; they were more concerned with external appearances rather than changing their hearts. Jesus is full of compassion today. He speaks of mercy, pardon and grace. He wants hearts to turn from their wicked ways and repent. Micah spoke of a time when people of the world would come in droves to worship God. People need hope now more than ever. The only hope this world has is Jesus Christ. The world needs the Church right now to rise up and take it’s place. Will you stand and be counted?
It shall come to pass. A great multitude shall gather.
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” – Rev 7:9-10. Hallelujah!!! Emmanuel is with us!!! Salvation is come!!!
